The Portland Loo
In 2007, the city of Portland, Oregon, approached Madden Fabrication to help it develop and manufacture a concept public toilet that was functional, crime resistant, and durable enough to be left open 24/7, 365 days a year. Madden Fabrication’s knowledge of materials, building codes, welding and manufacturing capabilities were utilized to design and manufacture the first unit.
The first Loo was installed December 7, 2008, at NW 5th and Glisan in the Old Town Chinatown area of Portland. Since then, 15 other Loos have been installed in Portland and cities in British Columbia, Alaska, California and Massachusetts—with more ordered every month. The Portland Loo project demonstrates the skills and know-how that Madden Fabrication brings to its customers daily. Portland Loos are sold and manufactured by Madden Fabrication; read more here.
